Parents: Please take the School-Year Calendar Planning Survey -
Each year, Ankeny Schools’ staff, administration and Board representatives meet to discuss and plan the school calendar. Part of that planning includes surveying parents regarding their preferences and using that feedback to guide our decisions through the process.

We are beginning our planning process for the 2015-2016 school calendar, and would like to invite parents to take our brief nine-question, multiple-choice survey found at the following link:

Celebrate our middle school students during Young Adolescent Month:
Ankeny is home to nearly 3,000 young adolescents, who live, learn and grow together in our city.  Despite rapid life changes, these extraordinary young people make meaningful and significant contributions.  This is why October is designated as Ankeny’s Month of the Young Adolescent, and why Ankeny celebrates the diverse talents, personalities and achievements of our middle school-aged students.  Read more about what you can do to celebrate the lives of these young people.
2014 Iowa Youth Survey
The Ankeny Community School District has agreed to administer the Iowa Youth Survey to students in grades 6, 8, and 11 between September 29 and October 31.  Directed by the Iowa Department of Public Health in partnership with the Iowa Departments of Education and Human Rights, the survey collects information about Iowa youth in order to better understand their beliefs, values, and decisions about what makes them feel secure, strong, and safe in their communities, schools, and families.  Participation in the survey is anonymous and strictly voluntary, and no student is required to fill out the questionnaire.  If you do not want your child to participate, simply sign and return the third page of the parent letter to Kristi Miller in the Northview front office by Wednesday, September 24.  Read the parent letter for complete information.

Polk County Health flu clinics scheduled at Ankeny schools:
The Ankeny Community School District is again partnering with the Polk County Health Department to provide seasonal flu vaccination clinics in Ankeny Schools October 9 and November 6. The influenza vaccination will be available to all staff and students, and will be open to the public.  Learn more about the flu clinics here.
