Ankeny's first hosting of the statewide middle school cross country meet deemed a success!:
On Saturday, October 18, a nearly 100-member volunteer crew comprised of Ankeny Centennial High School cross country runners and their families welcomed athletes from all four corners of the state to Ankeny. The runners came to compete in the Dick Washburn Classic middle school statewide cross country meet. This is the first year Ankeny has hosted the meet, which is sponsored by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches (IATC). Read more about the event's success

Jaguar and Hawk Fans - Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 25! Join us in the east parking lot of Ankeny High School any time between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to test drive a new car from Bob Brown Buick and GMC, and help us raise money for ACHS and AHS athletics and activities! For every onsite test drive (must be 21 years of age or older with proof of insurance), Buick will donate a dollar amount, up to $10,000, to the two Ankeny high schools. We need 500 total test drives to reach that goal. We’ll see you on the 25th at Ankeny High School where you can help out the Jaguars and Hawks! Read more in the program flier here.

ACHS Marching Band to perform in 2015 NYC National Veterans Day Parade -
The Ankeny Centennial High School Marching Band is proud to announce they have accepted an invitation to march in the National Veterans Day Parade in New York City on November 11, 2015. The parade features more than 20,000 participants, including veterans of all eras, active duty military, ROTC and JrROTC units, and civic and youth groups, all accompanied to music performed by a selection of our nation's best high school marching bands, drill teams and step dancers. ACHS Marching Band places third; awarded "Best Colorguard":
The Ankeny Centennial Marching Band celebrated a successful weekend of competition at the Pella Marching Dutch Invitational on September 27, receiving third place in Class 4A and “Best Colorguard” award. Read more about the band here
This is the LAST day to donate winter clothing:
This is the last day each of Ankeny's schools will accept clean, gently-used winter clothing to donate to Ankeny children in need. If you have coats, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves or boots you would like to donate, please drop them off at your child's school during school hours today. Thank you to those who have already donated!
The donation drive is sponsored by a new program called F.E.W.D. (Faith and Education Winter Donations), supported by Project Fresh Start through the Ankeny Community Education Department.

The Community Education Department and the Ankeny Art Center are partnering to bring three art class opportunities to your child on Saturdays!
- Art Exploration - children in grades K-8 will create and bring home drawings, paintings, and much more.
- Pottery Hand Building - children in grades K-4 will roll-out clay, press stamps, and create sculptures to bring home.
- Pottery Wheel - children in grades 5-8 will learn techniques to create a bowl to be fired and taken home.

Polk County Health flu clinics scheduled at Ankeny schools:
The Ankeny Community School District is again partnering with the Polk County Health Department to provide seasonal flu vaccination clinics in Ankeny Schools October 9 and November 6
