The President's Award for Educational Excellence

The President's Award for Educational Excellence is an annual award presented to 9th grade students who meet specific academic criteria. Those criteria are:
  • GPA of 3.5/higher at the end of 2nd semester of 8th grade
  • GPA of 3.5/higher at the end of 1st semester of 9th grade
  • 9th grade Iowa Assessment standard score of 312 or higher for reading, or 306 or higher for math
This year we have 139 students who qualify. Letters are being sent to parents to invite them to the ceremony on April 23rd, during the school day. Please contact Mrs. Furhman or Ms. Snyder if you have questions.

K-12 Art Show

Art teachers in Ankeny recently selected artwork from students across the District to represent their school at the K-12 Art Show. The selected artwork will be on display from April 8th until May 3rd at the Ankeny Art Center located at 1520 SW Ordnance Rd. See who from Northview were selected to showcase their artwork.

There will be two receptions for the students, their family and friends. Since this will be the first year with two receptions for North and South, we anticipate the receptions to be busy. Please allow for additional parking time. Most families find they will need 45 minutes to see the whole show and take pictures.

North (Northview) reception is April 17th, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
South reception is April 10th, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

We look forward to seeing Northview artists, families, friends and staff at the reception!

Honors Science qualification and application:
Letters regarding Honors Science placement for incoming 6th–11th grade students were sent on March 24-28 to those who qualify. The district offers Honors Science courses to middle and high school students based on student academic need.
If your student did not receive a notification letter, and wishes to enroll he/she can complete an Honors Science application for consideration. Applications are due April 30. Please contact the Ankeny Extended Learning Program (AELP) teacher or principal at your student’s school if you have questions.

Interpreting Your Student's Iowa Assessments Scores
In January, Ankeny students took the Iowa Assessments test, which replaced the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) and Iowa Tests of Education Development (ITED) last year. Test results are now being sent home to parents.  Ankeny Schools provide several resources to help you interpret your student’s test scores.   It is recommended that you review this online information.
